Quote:
But this precious treasure - this light and power that now shine within us - is held in perishable containers, that is, in our weak bodies. So everyone can see that our glorious power is from God and not our own.
We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed and broken. We are perplexed, but we don't give up and quit. We are hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep go. Through suffering, these bodies of ours constantly share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies.
2 Corinthians 4:7-10
Quote:
Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are quite small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us an immeasurable great glory that will last forever! So we don't look at the troubles we can see right now; rather, we look forward to what we have not yet seen. For the troubles we see will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
This is yet another great reminder of what is truly important in life - eternity. Like this chapter says; "For our present troubles are quite small and won't last very long". They won't; we are here on this earth for a very short time. This earth is merely the starting point of our journey. It is on this earth that we will choose the path we will take the rest of eternity.
There's no turning back once you die, and eternity is a long time to regret something. I'm so thankful that God loved me enough to save me from hell. If he hadn't have chosen me, I would be just like any other man - living my life for myself only to regret it for the rest of eternity.
I feel so bad about all of the people out there going down the broad path (Matthew 7:13). There are many things you can get a second chance at; a job, your marriage, even life... but there's no second chance from hell. That is why it's so important for us as Christians to make sure we never let someone continue down that path when we can stop them. Who cares if they think we're "religious", "weird", or "uncool" their heading down the path of doom! Every person that you tell about the love of Christ may make you feel uncomfortable, but they'll spend eternity either doing one thing or another: suffering in hell regrading that they hadn't listen to you, or worshiping God in heaven, thinking you for the love you showed them.
One other thing about the path we choose: it's on this earth that we will earn the treasures we will have for the rest of eternity. Just like a hiker chooses and packs the equipment he'll need once he reaches camp, the way we live chooses our crowns and rewards for heaven. Pack well!
