Is it just me, or is the character limit quite short on the Wordpress Status Net plugin?

I'm trying to post URLs into my StatusNet Profile, but the character limit is so short that it's getting cut off..

(Yes I know it is capped at 140 characters, or something like that..)

Anyone else running into this problem? I'd greatly appreciate a little help in figuring out a way around this.

Edit: The URLs are only 45-50 characters.. How much space is there before it gets limited?

Total 140 characters including the title of the post and the URL.

Hmm.. I see. It seems so much shorter.. Take this as an example..

I entered:



As my wordpress post, and it came out:



Even with the shortened URL, for the actual post, that's only 40 characters before it's getting shortened..

(And the URL is only 51 characters all together)

Counting the:



That's only 65 characters, total. Do you see what I mean?

It's a wordpress theme that allows you to write in an "update" style format.

Permalinks are handled like this:



So, I'm just entering the URL as the post, and then submitting it..

Do you see what I mean?

Should I be doing something different with the title, in order to get the URL to enter correctly?

I have never seen anything like that before, so I don't really understand how that's working. Why do you just want to to posts with just URLs?

Well, basically, it's helping me index my various web properties that are strewn out online..

When I put up articles, guest posts, directory listings.. I pop in the URL and it helps Google index them.

So.. that's why I'm using just a URL..

But anyways.. I've found if I shorten the URL first, it fits just fine..

A little tedious, but it will work. Thanks for your time and effort buddy!
