preface: very happy with 2.7

questions:

1. the protect script should be first in coding. this also includes being in front of doctype, no?

2. in preface, i mention being happy with 2.7. i have downloaded 2.8. do i have to start over by customizing settings script and running setup again, or does the update only require uploading the other files?

1. Yes.

2. Upload the files, and edit the new settings.php so you use the same database and tables as in your previous version. Then run the update script and all changes will be made to your database. Please remember to make a backup copy of your database before you do any changes.
