Quote:
We were slaves to the spiritual powers of this world. But when the right time came, God sent his son, born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent him to buy freedom for us when we were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children... and since you are his child, everything he has belongs to you.
Galatians 4:3-7
In chapter four of Galatians, Paul refutes those who insist that Christians must obey the law. In this chapter, Paul gives two different examples of how Christ freed us from the law of Moses. At the same time, he warns the Christians not to obey just any teacher. He tells the Galatians to examine God's word to see what it says about the law (Galatians 4:21). Not to just blindly follow any false teacher that will try to make them subject to the law again. We should remember this lesson as well; if what someone says does not lineup with God's word - it is wrong.
Quote:
Let me put it another way. The law was our guardian and teacher to lead us until Christ came. So now, through faith in Christ, we are made right with God. But now that faith in Christ has come, we no longer need the law as our guardian. So you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
...And now that you belonged to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and now all the promises God gave to him belong to you.
Galatians 3:24-26 & 29
Quote:
I'll say it again. If you are trying to find favor with God by being circumcised, you must obey all of the regulations in the whole law of Moses. For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God's grace.
Galatians 5:3-4
This is a great
