I just started building a website for a Realtor. She has a lot of competition in my area, so I thought I would try to help her gain an edge over the competition by putting a custom search engine in her website. The layout of the form doing the search is all covered. I just need an idea on how to write the script so that it automatically shows the most current listed homes in the correct areas within the website. Basically, I will have assigned divs (<div> </div) to hold the information. Within each <div> tag I need the results of my query to show up properly. I do not have a database set up for this customer yet. We are still trying to get access to a pre-existing database.
Also, is it possible to query and get results from a database that's not on my server, but is located elsewhere?
If, in the event I cannot get access to the other database, is there a script that I can write that will automatically log me in to a website that has all of that information? For instance, a customer will click on a "Search For New Home" link, which will take him or her to a certain website. However, that website requires a username and password to see the listings. I obviously don't want the customers to know the username and password, so can I write a script that will automatically send the user to the other site, log in using my credentials, and then allow the customer to see the content?
I know this is a lot to ask for me being a new user, but this is why I signed up here> I noticed that the information floating around this website is very informative, and so are its contributors.
